Our family planed to travel to China during the chrisms. Unfortunately, my son is not able to get a visa to China because he’s lost his Old Chinese passport even we still have a copy of his Chinese passport and his American passport.
Since we have bought three United Airline round trip tickets with 5 night’s hotel, we have to re-schedule the tickets. However the travel agent who bought the tickets for us is going to charge me $350 penalty for each ticket and plus one night hotel charge of $56 per room. The total we have to pay is $350X3+$56X2(two rooms) =$1162. The tickets only cost $1380 for each including 5 night’s hotel.
Is it fair?
I have called UA. They only charge $250 /each for re-schedule. But I have to goto the agent.

It depends on the restrictions based upon the fare class of the ticket you bought. I guess the only way you can find out for sure is to call United yourself and see if your travel agent is gouging you or not. For a heavily discounted ticket the $350 is not out of the ordinary these days. Can’t you renew his passport before then at a Chinese Embassy or consulate? Good luck.
No it is not fair. It’s a rip off.
Check it direct with airline company and the hotel.
I think the travel agent is definitely over charging you.
