I have booked a flight plan from Shenyang China to Beijing to LA to Austin, but my plans have changed and it would now be much more convenient for me to skip Shenyang and start my flight from Beijing.
My travel agent has told me that there will be a $250 charge if I skip the Shenyang to Beijing flight. This sounds ridiculous to me. Will I have any problems if I just show up for my booked Beijing flight?

Yes, you probably will have problems. Airlines normally cancel your itinerary if you fail to show up for the first flight. You could go to the airport at Beijing and find that you have no reservations at all.

DO NOT SKIP YOUR FLIGHT!!!!!!! You WILL be counted as a no-show and the rest of your reservation WILL be cancelled! The $250 charge is the airline’s change fee and your travel agent’s change fee. You should call the airline directly to see if it’s cheaper to change it through them.

Its better to travel by same route. If you want to cancel your flights then log on to the airline site and then confirm the charges to canceled the ticket.
Skipping a leg of an international flight is grief…..try it and you will spend more time in China than you planned on.
They have no humor….
If you miss part of your ticket the airline may cancel the remaining part of your ticket. If your ticket is non-refundable non-changeable then there is a fee to make changes to it.
