I found in the Korean Airlines site a ticket for 1,565.97 USD including tax.
Look for it departing on the dec 15 and returning on dec 29.

There should be lots of Asian travel agencies in New York who can help you. See if there is a Gateway Travel. Travel to Asia during Christmas is especially expensive because lots of people go back during that time to celebrate Christmas and Chinese New Year. See if Air China has any flights. Generally their ticket prices are not that expensive.
