ok well im currently in gr.10 and ive decided im going to do something involving history for me main job for my life, i know that is very “gray” [job for rest of my life] but w/e anyway im planning on travelling in china for a year after high school and teaching for the first 6 months there and then coming back for school and i im going to get my bachelors in history prob. and then something like anthropology as a minor or w/e and i know i could go on and become a historian but i hate that im going to have to waste almost a decade in school for that career although it wont all be a waste or i could just get my bachelors and teachers and teach highschool but that is alot of just sitting as well and i want to travel in my job with history and digging in the ground doesnt appeal to me os no archealogist for me but i really like to read and i herd travel agent is good for travel/history but it doesnt pay very well so like my ideal job would be like going to different libraries in countries and reading about like theyre ancient civilizations and maybe writing about it and getting paid so like does any thing like that exist?
any help is greatly appreaciated

This is just a thought but teaching high school history during the school year and travel during the summer to historical places and then have things you brought back for the next year so it is a little like hands on for the students who never get to see these places.
Join the military! There are a few in uniform jobs available for historians — they are enlisted positions and often you can serve AND work on your degree at the same time. It’s a shared MOS with journalism — 46Q. It’s a very small number AND mostly a reserve component, but it’s a very interesting experience! I served in the 102nd Military History Detachment (Kansas National Guard) for several years and liked it.
How are your writing skills? (Apart from the advice below)
Suppose you can write interesting, you could study archeology or any other field you like. Travel to the places you want to, and write about it. Take photo’s. Run a blog or a site, start publishing (books and articles). That’s what I would do if I could do it all over again….
